Paffett looking forward to favourite round

Gary Paffett will compete in the sixth, and his favourite, round of the season at the Circuit Park Zandvoort, Holland, this weekend as the DTM heads outside of Germany for the third time this season.

Gary heads to Holland currently occupying 10th place in the Drivers’ Championship with 61 points to his name. Gary’s consistency, in one of the most competitive racing series in the world, has seen the Fitbit-sponsored driver collect points in 8 of the season’s 10 races.

‘Team Captain’ Gary Paffett has also assisted in helping Mercedes-Benz reach 341 points in the Manufacturers’ Championship as the team currently sit in second place – just 80 points behind leaders Audi.

An ‘old school’ track, Zandvoort is an extremely demanding circuit on both man and machine with its tight and twisty nature featuring high speed sections but with a lot of slow, malicious sectors that make getting the perfect lap time all the more difficult. This year, however, the 2.64-mile long track has been resurfaced which will only add to the uncertainty as to which manufacturer will claim the spoils this weekend.

Gary’s record at the track is one of the most prolific in the series! Three wins and four trips to the podium, including a second-place last year, puts Gary as one of the favourites this weekend but will have to be at the top of his game as Mercedes head to the Zandvoort dunes with the heaviest cars on the grid.

Gary is looking forward to returning to action and to one of his favourite tracks.

“It’s been a few weeks out of the car, and I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel. But also, with Zandvoort being probably my favourite circuit of the whole year, I just really like the big challenge. It’s an ‘old-school’ circuit which is quite tight and very twisty. It doesn’t have much run-off and there are some high-speed corners. I can’t wait to get back on track there. It’s been resurfaced this year, so it will be slightly different, but I’m still looking forward to the weekend, and hopefully we can get some really strong results.”
