Ovenden nothches up perfect Easter

Canterbury based Rallycross driver Tristan Ovenden headed to the annual Easter Monday race meeting at his home circuit of Lydden Hill looking to extend his early lead in the 2019 British Rallycross Championship.

The circuit was bathed in sunshine and held a packed crowed the Goody Demolition backed driver quite simply played to the crowd by recording straight qualification victories in what can only be described as a rallycross driving masterpiece.

Rather unsurprisingly he lined up for the final in pole position and was into Chessons drift ahead of the pack and never looked back, taking the flag nearly 5 seconds ahead of his nearest rival. Infact his lap pace was only a matter of a couple of seconds adrift of the supercars!

He now leads the 2019 Supernational Championship by 10 points after only 2 rounds.

Tristan Ovenden said of his great weekend: “There’s always a lot of anticipation building up to our home event, so it’s fantastic to reward our invaluable team and our supporters with a great result.”

The championship now has a short break and then heads to Pembrey in South Wales on 22nd and 23rd June for rounds 3 and 4. Track action gets underway at 09:00
