Norwich City v Charlton Ath preview

Charlton head for Norwich on Tuesday morning, and Jason Euell’s Under-21 squad will also be on the road, they will be going to Barnsley.Soccer - FA Youth Cup - Third Round - Norwich City v Charlton Athletic - Carrow Road

With two games being played on the same night, Euell’s squad may be weaker than usual, but as the Tykes have lost all five of their games this season, Euell will be confident of taking all three points.

Bob Peeters’ team will face a far tougher task at Carrow Road, Norwich are currently sitting at the top of the table.

The Canaries have won four of their five games on the road, but have found things more difficult at home. They won their opening two fixtues against Watford and Blackburn at Carrow Road, but have drawn their latest home games against Bournemouth and Birmingham.

Peeters will have a number of decisions to make. Johann Gudmundsson is definitely ruled out with the twisted ankle he picked up against Middlesbrough on Saturday, and Chris Solly is unlikely to be risked.

Simon Church seems out of favour with Peeters and is another who looks unlikely to be involved. Frederic Bulot, Franck Moussa and George Tucudean will be vying to partner Igor Vetokele upfront.

Bulot and Moussa could also come into contention for a start on the left if Peeters decides to shuffle his midfield pack.

Given the difficulty of the game though, Peeters may opt to keep changes to a minimum. He will have one enforced change to make on the right due to Gudmundsson’s injury. Lawrie Wilson is the likely replacement and Gudmundsson’s absence could mean a return to the bench for Callum Harriott. The Addicks could start with this line-up:

Henderson; Gomez, Ben Haim, Bikey, Wiggins; Wilson, Buyens, Jackson, Cousins; Bulot, Vetokele.

Subs: Pope, Fox, Morrison, Moussa, Harriott, Tucudean, Ahearne-Grant.

The referee will be Mick Russell of Hertfordshire.

Norwich will start as hot favourites but Charlton have defied the odds before this season and Peeters will be hopeful of getting some kind of result.
