Mason will partner Robert Barrable in the second of the RCIB Insurance Racing backed Ginetta G55s, which are easily two of the most striking cars on the British GT grid.

He will join the team from Oulton Park at the Bank Holiday meeting, and it will be his first foray into the world of GT4 racing.

36 year-old Mason from Doncaster is the most successful driver in the VW Cup’s history, and has also raced in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship in 2013, so brings both pace and experience to the team, something that team boss Tony Gilham values greatly.

He said: “I am really excited to have Aaron join Robert in the No.75 RCIB Insurance Racing Ginetta. We’ve known each other for many years and I’ve seen up close just how quick he is, but also he brings a lot of class to the team, so I feel super-confident that as a pairing we now have one of the strongest line ups in the category. GT4 has a real mixture of machinery and levels of driving ability – we have a quick car and now a super-quick pairing.”

The team have already been on the podium in the opening round at Brands Hatch with Jordan Stilp and William Phillips, so have demonstrated strong form in their debut season in the championship, so what is Mason’s expectations for Oulton Park and beyond?

“Firstly I am so looking forward to racing with RCIB Insurance Racing, I know the car and team will be on the money, and the Ginetta won the first race at Oulton last year so it should be very strong here again. We visit some fantastic circuits such as Silverstone GP and Spa of course, and I’m excited to be driving with Robert who has an incredible pedigree. It should be a lot of fun and we’re aiming to be running at the front.”

Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2016 British GT Championship will take place at Oulton Park in Cheshire on the 28th and 30th May, with 2 x 60 minute races on Sunday 30th, and TV Coverage on both MotorsTV and Channel 4 the following week.
