Lookman set for Addicks chance

On Thursday, Ademola Lookman was playing for the England Under-19 team against Italy‎ in the semi-finals of the European Championships.

Four days later, he will return to Sparrows Lane for pre-season training.

Russell Slade has indicated that the talented youngster will play some part in the friendly against Ipswich at The Valley on Tuesday.

Lookman has attracted attention from a host of Premier League clubs, and the Addicks face a fight to keep him at The Valley.

The South London Press have reported that Russell Slade is keen to add Hillingdon born central defender, Jason Pearce, to his squad.

Pearce, 28, has made nearly 350 league appearances for Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Leeds and Wigan, and has captained them all.

Slade is keen on players who are natural leaders on the pitch. Latest signing, Andrew Crofts, also fits the bill.

It should be a busy week at The Valley, Slade wants to bring in five or six new players before the season kicks-off at Bury on 6 August.

The first arrival will be keeper, Simon Moore. Moore will come in on a season long loan from Slade’s former club, Cardiff, and the deal should be completed in time for him to play against the Tractor Boys.
