Leyton Orient 3-1 Bromley

An injury and suspension hit Bromley side came away empty handed from their trip to East London despite a spirited display that saw them lead at half time against high flying Orient.

The game got off to a lively start with play flowing from end to end and it was The Ravens who created the better chances early on when Roger Johnson just failed to connect to a Sam Wood free kick, while Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe caused the home defence real problems down the left, drawing a series of fouls from Myles Judd.

Lining up 4-5-1 with defenders Alan Dunne and Marc-Anthony Okoye filling in the vacant central midfield spots, they looked to hit Joe Quigley up top and for him to bring the wingers into play from there.

As the Os got going as an attacking threat Josh Koroma went close with a curling effort which went just wide and then he had another shot saved by David Gregory soon after.

Bromley battled back after a holding out to the home side’s pressure and they soon started  to create more chances with Richard Brindley having a free kick deflected for a corner and huge scramble in the box that followed the set piece.

Then with five minutes to go before the break Ogedi-Uzokwe was brought down by Judd again on the edge of the box and John Goddard hit a superb low free kick which curled in side the far post to give Bromley the lead.

The home side had two chances before the half when Dale Gorman and Macauley Bonne both went close, but The Ravens stayed in front.

The second half saw Bromley create an early chance for Goddard whose effort was saved by Dean Brill and then Oged-Uzokwe put a chance over, before Orient rallied.

Bonne put a chance wide and Jobi McAnuff crossed for Gorman who saw his goal bound effort deflect wide. But after ten minutes of the half the scores were levelled when a free kick from McAnuff was whipped over the wall and just inside the top right hand corner to equalise.

Four minutes later The Os went in front when Koroma burst past the Bromley defence before powering the ball high into the net giving Gregory no chance.

Bromley settled down again after going behind, but they could not really create anything going forward, manager Neil Smith putting Jack Holland up front in on final throw of the dice, but it was Orient who had the final say with twelve minutes to go.

McAnuff drove a powerful shot from twenty yards out which Gregory spilled right into the path of Bonne who slotted the ball home from close range. Late on Okoye blazed over for Bromley, while Koroma went close again for the home side, but there were no more goals.

Orient went top after this impressive second half display, while Bromley slipped to sixteenth, although they can still take a lot of positives from this display ahead of their home game with Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.
