Kent bring Rayner in on loan

Middlesex off-spinner Ollie Rayner will join Kent Cricket on loan for eight Specsavers County Championship matches, starting with our fixture against Nottinghamshire at Tunbridge Wells from Monday 17th June.

Born in Germany, Rayner was a key part of Middlesex’s Division One title success in 2016, taking 51 wickets at an average of 23.57.

The 33-year-old has a career first-class bowling average of 33.39, taking 303 wickets to date, with best innings figures of 8/46 (and 15/118 in the match) against Surrey in 2013.

Paul Downton, Kent Cricket’s Director of Cricket, said: “We are really pleased to be able to bring in someone of Ollie’s experience to strengthen our squad as we move towards the second half of the Championship season.

“As a front-line spinner, excellent slip fielder and a useful late order batsman he will significantly add to our young group of players.

“His performances for Middlesex, and when he has been called upon for England Lions duty in the past, show that he is a talented player and will boost our spin-bowling options.”
