Jewiss heads to Rockingham

After a sensational start to life in single-seaters, Kiern Jewiss leads the 2018 British F4 Championship in his debut year by 29 points to his nearest rival, Ayrton Simmons, as the series arrives in Northants to contest round seven of the season.

With the most wins of any driver, Kiern will be looking to add to his tally of five wins, three poles and twelve podiums this weekend as the season draws ever closer to its conclusion and points become even more crucial in the title fight.

Kiern’s previous round at Snetterton was a weekend to forget for the FM Conway-sponsored youngster as, despite showing excellent pace all weekend, his luck ran dry with two unpreventable incidents meaning he missed out on points in two of the weekend’s races. A sensational drive from the last row of the grid in race two was rewarded with a 4th place finish and meant that Kiern heads to Rockingham still more than a win ahead in the championship standings.

Billed as ‘the fastest track in Europe’, the 1.94-mile Rockingham Motor Speedway sees the cars start on the NASCAR-style oval banking before switching on to the infield to face a testing sequence of tight hairpins and fast sweeping bends.

Looking forward to this weekend, Kiern is keen to leave Snetterton behind him and focus fully on the races ahead of him.

“Last time out we had an unfortunate weekend which was highly disappointing. However, the pace in the car was fantastic so our confidence hasn’t been dented at all. With only four race weekends remaining, we need to concentrate on every race and try to secure as many points as we can – without taking any unnecessary risks.”
