Jewiss heads North

The Ginetta Junior Championship makes its annual trip across the border for the seventh round of the season at Knockhill, Scotland, as Kiern Jewiss looks to continue to close the gap on the championship leader.

Another stellar weekend for the FM Conway-sponsored driver at Snetterton, two weeks ago, saw Kiern pick up more trophies and yet more rookie wins to add to his season total. Kiern’s rich run of form has seen him pick up podium finishes in seven of his last eight races – reaching the second spot on six of those occasions.

Kiern’s search for his maiden win continues however. Missing out by 0.08 seconds in race one at Snetterton, 0.07 seconds away in race three and taken out whilst leading the second race left Kiern rueing the missed opportunities in Norfolk.

Kiern heads to Scotland with 329 points to his name as he now holds third-place in the Drivers’ Standings and commands a 92-point lead in the Rookie Standings. Kiern has also reduced the deficit to championship leader, Sebastian Priaulx, to just 48 points and is just 31 points shy of second placed Tom Gamble.

The Knockhill Racing Circuit is a clockwise, 1.3-mile long circuit in Fife, Scotland, that has hosted the BTCC since 2004. The thin Knockhill circuit is a stern test for the grid this weekend with its a handful of blind corners that make the undulating track one of the most demanding on the calendar.

Heading into the weekend’s action, Kiern is confident he can continue his strong form.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend, it’s nice to have a race just off the back of Snetterton where we were unlucky not to get the win. I’ve been working on the sim with Kieren since we came away from ‘Snett’ and feel I am in a strong place heading into the weekend. It’s my first time at the track and it looks tough, but I’m relishing the challenge!”
