Invicta Dynamos 5-1 Bracknell Bees

The Invicta Dynamos romped to their best win of the season against a strong Bracknell Bees side on Saturday night.

After two tight ties between the two teams earlier this season, with the Bees having come out on top in both after overtime, it was expected there was going to be another mouth watering clash in Gillingham.

The two teams had met just a fortnight before with the visitors having won on penalty shots after overtime couldn’t separate them, but the controversy of Frankie Bakrlik elbowing Mason Webster to the head left both sides without two key players.

Bakrlik was to be serving his six game ban, whilst Webster was still overcoming the effects of the off the puck hit.

Along with Webster missing, the Dynamos took to the ice without the services of Harrison Lillis, Tom Long and Justin Robinson, whilst the recently departed import Adam Rehak looked to have left the home side short.

With just over two lines, the Dynamos looked up against it, but showed what team spirit and teamwork can do for you.

Just 41 seconds had been played when the Dynamos opened the scoring. Ashley Jackson broke free down the left and squared for Louis Colvin to fire home.

End to end action failed to produce another goal in the opening period, but the Dynamos more than matched their opponents.

On 25:10, the Dynamos doubled their lead, Colvin turning provider for Jackson who showed his class, roofing into the net.

Little over two minutes later and the pair combined again, Jackson turning provider for Colvin who scored to the delight of the home fans.

Any doubt as to where the points would be going was soon put to bed as the Dynamos made it 4-0 in the 36th minute, Jackson and Tommy Ralph combining for George Hoang to score.

With the Bees having switched netminders, the Dynamos made it 5-0 before the second break, Scott Bailey leaving the Bees defence for dust before roofing high into the net.

Bailey was to pick up a 2+10 minute penalty for a check to the head, although it looked like a harsh decision.

Brandon Webster was also to spend some time in the penalty box in the 55th minute as he traded blows with Bendik.

Any hopes of a Damien King shutout were denied in the 55th minute too as Callum Best scored against his former side.

In the end, it proved to be a mere consolation and the Dynamos held out for a massive win that will give the side a big boost going forward.

Kevin Parrish’s troops now head to Streatham on Sunday evening for a dead rubber of a cup tie.
