Holmesdale 3-0 Crockenhill

On a warm evening in Bromley, Holmesdale recorded their first win of the new season with a solid display of attacking football and solid defending that could well kick start their SCEFL Division One league campaign.

The game got off to a lively open start with the home side having the best of things, Anthony Fenech had a shot deflected wide and Danny Gannon hitting a free kick narrowly wide.

Crockenhill also had their chances with Carmen Bandall and Jerome Homes forcing saves from Alfie George. Dale’s Jack Hopper had a header saved from close range before they took the lead on 18 minutes when Jake Nuttall’s 20 yard free kick evaded Danny Cox in the Crocks goal to creep in the near post.

Holmesdale pushed on from there dominating the rest of the half and playing some nice football, Fenech had a shot blocked soon after, Nuttall was denied by Cox and Gannon saw his goal bound effort deflected over.

Then Junior Justine who was the creative heartbeat in the midfield set up Gannon who fired over before  hitting a great finish past Cox for 2-0 on 38 minutes to send the home side in clear at the break.

The second half saw Dale begin on top again, Gannon had a goal disallowed for offside and Weedon fired wide before the game was delayed for a few minutes following an off the ball scuffle, which eventually resulted in two bookings and a drop ball.

Fenech also had a goal disallowed for the home side before firing over after good work by Nuttall. Fenech was denied by Cox and then hit a fierce drive from distance just over as Holmesdale continued to press, but The Crocks did create chances though, Zak Beedon hit the bar with a deft chip over George and  then Danny Fradigoun burst down the right and cut into the area before seeing his shot cleared off the line.

The game was killed off as a contest though on 77 minutes when Lawson latched on to a through ball before coolly slotting the ball past Cox from the edge of the box for 3-0.

Adeosun went close again seeing his low drive deflected into the keeper’s path and turned round the post for a corner before Crockenhill’s night took abother turn for the worse with the sending off of Neil Heggarty for a second yellow card after fouling Adeosun.

Late on Crock’s Alex Ball hit a quick free kick to Bandall, but his shot was well saved by George to keep Dale’s clean sheet and they nearly made it four in injury time when Adeosun sent in a low cross that Charlie Sharman just failed to make contact with.
