‘Incredibly positive’ was how Trade Price Cars Brisky Racing driver Jake Hill described the BTCC season launch at Donington Park, the 24 year-old BRDC ‘Rising Star’ demonstrating the potential of Team Hard’s 2018 edition machine.

“We decided not to run whilst the track was drying – my team-mate Mike (Bushell) went out on slicks and was instantly quickest, so we headed out on track and immediately started putting in some strong times. Ultimately we ran as high as second overall – and fastest Jack Sears runner – and we were consistently in the top-six, and importantly were very consistent in terms of our lap times.”

Hill’s guests from Trade Price Cars, Brisky Racing, Rolec Racing, Sportif Group, Ecoflam, Danfoss and AWS Appliance Spares all came to Donington Park to see the team’s 2018 reveal, plus of course the whole 2018 BTCC grid in action on track, and were universal in their praise for the performance on track, and the stunning new livery for the team.

Team Principle Tony Gilham commented on Jake and the whole team’s performance: “As soon as Jake hit the track he was instantly at the top – as was Mike when he was on track. Hugely impressed with Michael Caine and Bobby Thomspon too – Bobby was driving his car for the first time and looked incredibly at home. Massive thanks to the job that Jamie and the boys in the workshop have done – three ‘all nighters’ on the bounce – and of course to all our amazing partners for their support this year. Cannot tell you how excited I am for Brands!”

Later on in the session Hill was preparing for a run on new tyres, confident he would challenge near the top of the final times, but a series of frustrating situations prevented him from setting a time.

“As I was driving out on track the session was stopped, then once I did get out we picked up a hole in the intercooler, they changed that quickly, out on track, already ‘up’ on my previous best and the session was stopped AGAIN as my mate Jack Goff went off at Redgate….and they then put the chequered flag out! Anyway we were so pleased with the car – we have great data from all four drivers – our head engineer Geoff Kingston was really pleased with what we achieved. We test again at Brands on Thursday (29th) so we will have another day of running before race one.”

“Brands is my home circuit, and for Bobby and Mike and the team and lots of our partners, so we will have huge support, and I cannot wait to get out there. Feeling hugely excited and quietly confident!”, smiled Hill.
