Steve Head has been revealed as Charlton’s head of recruitment/chief scout.

Steve Head

Head has plenty of clubs on his cv, and was employed in a similar capacity at Reading. Head was head of opposition scouting at Fulham, and has also done the same job for Roy Hodgson’s England.

Head is a qualified coach, and spent a decade from 1992-2002 as head coach at Southampton’s academy.

Head was one of four candidates who were short listed for the job, the others being Keith Burke, David Burt and Andrew Mills.

Social media sources have reported that Mandy Anderson-Myers has left her position as ticketing supremo. Rick Everitt added that she had departed following a heated meeting with Chief Financial Officer, David Joyes.

Anderson-Myers joined the club last summer from local rivals, Crystal Palace.

Joyes is now the only head of department currently in place at The Valley.

The appointment everyone is keen to hear about of course,is the first team manager. An announcement is anticipated by the end of the week.

The club confirmed on Tuesday morning that the friendly with Ipswich will be played at The Valley on Tuesday 26 July with a 7.45pm kick-off.

There are still a couple of blanks in Charlton’s pre-season schedule. There is likely to be another game at the Valley on Saturday 30 July, and an away game on Tuesday 19 or Wednesday 20 July.
