Hawkey gets her season underway

Esmee Hawkey got her 2016 season underway last weekend at Donington Park in the opening round of the GT Cup Championship. MSVR,GT Cup Race 2

It is a big step up for the talent race ace, having raced in the ultra competitive Ginetta Junior Championship during the 205 season.

Racing a Porsche Cayman and competing in the GTA class in her GT4, she showed that she has plenty of talent and the season could be a good one.

She managed to finish the weekend with a 16th overall in race one and a fifth place in the GTA class, in her first race in the new Porsche backed by Porsche Centre Tonbridge.MSVR,GT Cup Race 2

Race two got better for Esmee as she managed to improve on the finishing positions of race one, with a fourth in the GTA class, which left her 17th overall.

What is more impressive is that Esmee wasn’t as competitive as she could have been with the Cayman needing an upgrade before she can compete with the quicker cars in the GT Cup like the Ginetta G55s.

That upgrade is due in July, but in the meantime the next round of the season will be at her local circuit of Brands Hatch, on the amazing GP circuit as part of the Blancpain GT Sprint Series over the weekend of the 7th and 8th May.MSVR,GT Cup Race 2

In the meantime the Porsche that Esmee races will be on show at Porsche Tonbridge Wells this evening, if you want to get up close and personal with an impressive race car.
