Glebe v Erith Town preview

Several football phrases are bandied around, such as ‘The Game’s Gone’ and ‘We go again’.

However, another one, ‘The table doesn’t lie’ isn’t really true of the Southern Counties East Football League Club at present. There is a big disparity in number of games played in this league ranging from twelve played by Whitstable Town to Glebe F.C.’s  twenty two  games.

In fact, after Glebe’s midweek game with Erith Town they will only have fifteen league matches in five months remaining..

They sit in ninth place at present having won six, drawn eight and lost eight. They have won their last two games including Saturday’s 5-2 win at Rochester United with Laurant Hamici scoring a hat-trick.

Opponents Erith Town were defeated 2-0 on Saturday at home to Crowborough Athletic but Glebe will be wrong to underestimate them.

The Dockers have a better record away from home, than when they play on home turf , this season at VCD Athletic’s Oakwood. They are currently in fourteenth place but have only played thirteen games as a consequence of their F.A. Vase run.

Whilst matches are often labelled as derbies purely through being in the same county, even if 60 miles apart, this match is a true game between clubs who can term this as a local derby so there could be some extra spice in the contest.
