Gills make double striker signing

Gillingham have signed striker Tom Eaves on a two-year contract following his release by Yeovil Town.

Eaves joined Yeovil Town ahead of last season after leaving Bolton Wanderers and scored four goals in 40 League Two games last season.

On signing the forward, Gills boss Adrian Pennock said: “It’s great to have got Tom on board; he’s strong, he’s quick and his height is naturally going to be an asset.”

Eaves added: “I’m absolutely delighted; I’m really looking forward to getting going. I can’t wait, I really can’t wait. I really like the Manager, I’ve spoken to Peter too and I think I can contribute in bringing some physicality to the team.”

The 25-year-old started his career at Oldham before joining Bolton in 2010.

Meanwhile, winger Elliott List, 20, has agreed a new contract to stay with the Gills until the end of the 2017-18 season.

List made 19 appearances last season as they finished 20th in the League One table.

After signing his contract Elliott said: “I love it here, I love the club and I love the fans, I think they’re great. It’s a great team and I think we’ll push on next year.

“The Manager has faith in me which is nice and it’s now important to get fit in pre-season.”

Head Coach Ady Pennock added: “I’m delighted Elliott has agreed to stay with us. He has worked his socks off to get an opportunity and he will only get better as he plays more matches.”
