Charlton Athletic make the short trip to Gillingham on Saturday as they continue their quest to scale the League One table.

The Gills will be without captain Josh Wright for the visit of their local rivals through suspension.

Defender Deji Oshilaja must also sit out the match after collecting a fifth yellow card in the midweek draw with Walsall.

Midfielder Scott Wagstaff is expected to miss out against his old club having come off at half-time on Tuesday night because of a groin problem.

Full-back Bradley Garmston is close to a return to training after a knee problem, while defender Aaron Morris (knee) and midfielder Lee Martin (ankle) also continue their recoveries.

The Addicks probably put in their best performance of the season in the first half at Vale Park on Tuesday, but failed to make the most of their chances.

Vale came into the game more in the second half, though Russell Slade’s side continued to have the better clear cut chances.

‎A defensive lapse led to Port Vale’s penalty, and Charlton had to settle for a point. It was definitely a case of two points dropped.

Gillingham have won just won of their last 12 games and have gone 25 games without keeping a clean sheet.

Slade was without defensive rock Jason Pearce on Tuesday, but is hopeful the defender’s troublesome groin problem ‎will have recovered sufficiently for him to play.

Ademola Lookman was withdrawn early at Vale Park to protect his tight hamstring, but Slade should have the precocious teenager available.

The Addicks could look like this:

Rudd; Solly, Bauer, Pearce, Fox; Holmes, Crofts, Ulvestad, Jackson; Lookman, Magennis.

Subs: Phillips, Chicksen, Konsa, Lennon, Hanlan, Novak, Ajose,

The referee will be Mark Haywood from West Yorkshire.

Charlton have created far more chances in their last two games, but their profligacy in front of goal cost them a win on Tuesday.

Slade has called for his team to be more clinical in front of goal at the Priestfield. If they manage to find their shooting boots, the game will be an ideal opportunity for the Addicks to notch their first away win since August.

For under pressure Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh, nothing less than a point will suffice as the clouds begin to build around Priestfield.
