Gateshead 3-1 Bromley
Gateshead 3-1 Bromley

Bromley’s last away game of the season ended in defeat as their patched up side were well beaten by a hard working Gateshead side who cashed in on some poor Ravens defending.

Gateshead

Bromley started the game well with Rhodell Gordon having a free kick well saved by. The home side responded from there and went close when Ryan Bowman had a flicked effort well saved by Alan Julian.

The breakthrough came on 11 minutes when Chris Hamilton turned Paul Rodgers inside out and crossed for Sam Johnson to finish from ten yards.

Rodgers was given a torrid time by Hamilton all game and set up Josh Giles for the second goal on 21 minutes who curled a sublime effort past Julian from the edge of the box.

Giles went close again soon after as The Ravens defence failed to deal with a set piece and Gateshead dominated play up to the break with an Adam Cunnington volley that went wide the only other effort on goal from Bromley.

The Ravens came out looking more fired up in the second half and pulled one back when Adam Coombes latched on to a Jordan Higgs through ball and Beat Sam Russell from just inside the box.

Gordon had a shot saved soon after following a strong run, while Rob Swaine and Pierre Joseph-Dubois both headed wide from corners.

Bromley lost momentum from there though and never looked like drawing level. The home side sealed the win on 75 minutes, Giles cashing in on more comical defending between Joe Anderson and the centre backs, clipping the ball past Julian for 3-1.

The game meandered to a finish with the home side happy to see out the win and Neil Smith’s men bereft of ideas.

Bromley end their season on Saturday with a home game against Aldershot and will hope for something from it to finish the campaign in more positive fashion.
