Fuller wants Team HARD success

Fuller is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel when the season gets underway over the Easter weekend at Oulton Park.

At just twenty-two years old Howard is one of the more experienced drivers in the Team HARD. stable having raced in the VW Cup and also in the British Touring Car Championship.

Speaking exclusively to Kent Sports News about getting back behind the wheel, he said: “It is good to be back to the team and I feel like part of the family now. It only seems right to have another stab at the Volkswagen Cup and bring back some good results for the team.”

Howard piloted one of the teams VW Golfs last season with mixed success and he wants to ensure that he has better luck this season.

He added: “If I am honest I have not known bad luck like it, but the team were there giving the support that I needed and I had some great support from sponsors and my family as well.

“They were there for me not just financially but also mentally and physically as well, I had a tough year and hopefully I am going to turn it round do a better job this time around.”Howard Fuller 1

Last season at the Brands Hatch round Howard did have a massive accident in the final race of the weekend, it shows the passion for racing that he is back and eager to go racing once again.

“I don’t think I will ever forget it, I think it was an exciting race for everybody, starting fourteenth and eventually leading the race and getting the lap record, and fastest lap as well. It was a big shunt and at the time you always feel like that you want to throw the towel in. I was still keen to get back into a car and show people that I have still got it.”

That is exactly what Howard is hoping that he can show people that he can do throughout the season and prove he can fight for race wins.

He said: “The cars look fantastic and we have some new drivers and new sponsors and investors as well, the team has really hit it up a gear, I am really excited about it.

“Today is more of a shakedown for the new guys really in the new cars, so it is important for them to find their feet, I am always going to be ready to go. Once the team have finished the last few bits and bobs on my car I will be ready to go testing.”

Even at twenty-two Howard is one of the experienced guys in the team and is happy to lend his experience to the new drivers in the team.

He added: “I think everyone is going to want to be leaning on me a little bit which is absolutely fine that is what I am here to do. I am obviously working for the team and it is in everyone’s best interests as well to have me here and to give that bit more experience.

“Tony is obviously very experienced as well not just in Volkswagen’s but in Touring cars as well, so it should be a good year.”

Howard is not one to set targets for himself, he would rather get out there and race each weekend and make sure he is doing his best.

He said: “I find if you give yourself that target and you don’t quite get there you always find that you turn everything into a negative. I just want to get in the car and do the best job that you can in that situation, obviously you want to go for the wins and get that consistency, that consistency wins the championship.”

There are three new sponsors on board that Howard is keen to thank for ensuring that he can do what he loves doing.

He added: “I have to say a massive thank you to Solar Advanced Systems, ABB and Trina Solar, they are doing a fantastic job for us and my family as well are giving me the support that I need. The team are giving me such a great opportunity to go racing again and hopefully bring back some good results.”
