Folkestone Invicta 1-3 Harrow Borough

Folkestone had a bad day at the office with defeat against Harrow but if you believe the stats their record against Harrow is not that good in the last few years.

Harrow belied their position in the table with a great performance that if they carried on like that they will be moving up the table while Folkestone luckily enough have a game on Tuesday to get back to winning ways.

The first half started with Harrow having the first chance when Charles Banya on the right crossed into the area for Sahr Kabba who from 10 yards volleyed just over the bar.

Five minutes later Folkestone had a chance when Scott Heard on the right passed to Ade Yussef who flicked it into the path of Heard but in stretching his shot from 15 yards went just past the post.

In the 22nd minute a free kick 25 yards out taken by Matt Newman forced Melvin Minter to push it around the post for a corner & from the resulting corner Minter punched clear but only to Kieron McCann whose volley was pushed over the bar by Minter. In the next minute Harrow had taken the lead when a long ball forward found Kabba who ran into the area & from 15 yards shot past Tim Roberts.

Harrow were now in total control & had a few chances to increase their lead, in the 28th minute Captain Shaun Preddie latched onto a clearance & from 25 yards his shot went just wide & then in the 39th minute Harrow doubled their lead when Kabba on the right went clear & his low cross found Banja who from 8 yards side footed in.

In the 44th minute Folkestone could have halved the deficit when McCann’s low cross found Joe Taylor who from 6 yards under pressure shot over the bar when it did seem easy to score.

The second half started with Folkestone bringing on two subs to hopefully freshen up the side & throughout the rest of the game it nearly worked as they dominated possession but in the end just lacked the final ball meanwhile Harrow seemed to just soak up the pressure & rely on counter attacks.

In the 54th minute McCann on the left side of the area saw his shot from 15 yards hit the angle of the bar & post. Four minutes later Ronnie Dolan crossed to the edge of the area where Heard was & his flying header went just wide. Another chance came in the 66th minute when Taylor passed to McCann who dinked it into the area for Heard & his header was saved by Minter.

Harrow had their first half chance of the half in the 83rd minute when Ryan Moss in the area latched onto a loose clearance but shot over the bar.

Folkestone finally scored to make it a grandstand finish when Yuseff received the ball 25 yards out & went into the area & his shot from 15 yards looped into the net, could they get an equaliser in the time remaining, they pressed but to no avail & in the first minute off added on time Harrow scored the third & made sure of the points when Michael Bryan 40 yards decided to run at the defence & he went past three defenders as if they were not there & from 15 yards slotted the ball past Roberts.
