KSN are proud to support:

Folkestone Invicta 1-0 Margate
Folkestone Invicta 1-0 Margate

Invicta’s excellent run of form continued as Johan Ter Horst’s ninth minute header proved enough to send Kent rivals Margate slumping to 17th in the Bostik League table in front of a big holiday crowd of 629 at The Fullicks Stadium on New Year’s Day.

Ter Horst’s return to action following several weeks out of action through injury brought Folkestone’s eighth win from their last 11 games, another of which was drawn, with 21 goals scored against just six conceded in that period.

And it was a great follow up to the Boxing Day victory at Tonbridge with the former leaders now having tumbled to a modest tenth place in the league, leaving Invicta comfortably the best placed of the three Kent clubs in this division.

Ter Horst netted with a second attempt header following a corner as he left several Margate defenders including former Folkestone captain Liam Friend struggling in his slipstream.

If we’re honest, a second goal would have given a more accurate reflection of Invicta’s first half dominance and though the visitors came more into the game in second period they rarely seriously troubled keeper Tim Roberts or his in-form Folkestone team-mates.

Scott Heard was again outstanding in his second start since knee surgery while sponsors’ man of the match Alfie Paxman and the also fit again Ronnie Dolan and Finn O’Mara also shone in a fine all-round team performance.

Folkestone are next in action on Saturday when they visit early season strugglers Burgess Hill Town whose form has definitely picked up since a change of management at the Green Elephant Stadium.

Please note that there is NO coach running to Burgess Hill this weekend.
