Faversham Town 3-1 Sittingbourne

Faversham Town played Sittingbourne at Salters Lane leaving with a comfortable win, sending them higher in the BOSTIK South East division.

The game kicked off sloppy with both teams firing long balls up field trying to get an early lead. Shortly after Faversham got the ball down on the deck and started to string precise passes together resulting with Ashley Miller slotting a shot top left sending Faversham 1 goal up.

The game then lost its pace due to Faversham trying to see the 1 goal lead out to half time. However, in the dying minutes of the first half Benjamin Chapman sent a lovely cross into the box touched down by Daniel Carrington and ending with the ball in the back of the net, deservingly the first half ended 2-0.

As the second half started fans saw Sittingbourne come to life despite the unplayable weather. This was shortly shut down by a lovely shot from Harry Goodger beating the keeper surely securing the win for Faversham Town.

As Sittingbourne fans lost hope and were counting down the minutes until the whistle was blown Chris Webber scored a blinder from outside the box livening the Sittingbourne side causing them to battle on to equalise the game.

This however didn’t go the way they wanted as an unneeded dispute caused by Sittingbourne’s Izzy Adebayo resulted in Sittingbourne down a man whilst chasing the game, despite their efforts the game stayed the same ending 3-1 to Faversham Town.

Aslan Odev was disappointed with Sittingbourne’s performance claiming they took too long to get into gear and wanted a result out of the game. He also hopes his side can come back from the defeat in the upcoming games.
