Kent clubs learn FA Cup fate

The draw for the Second Round of the Emirates FA Cup has handed Harry Wheeler’s Maidstone United a terrific chance of progressing into Round Three.

The draw made before tonight’s tie between Hampton and Richmond Borough and Oldham Athletic sees the Stones welcome the winner of that tie on December 1st in Round Two, but leaves Kent’s other two remaining representatives planning plenty of travel.

For Gillingham and Ebbsfleet United who both face long trips for replays, will both travel again if successful.

Steve Lovell was made to wait as the Gills were last out of the forty balls drawn and if they can get past Hartlepool United in ten days time, it’s another away day to another Non League side either Sutton United or Slough Town who drew themselves on Saturday.

Ebbsfleet United meantime head for Cheltenham Town next week for a replay knowing that they face another long trip if successful – this time to League One Accrington Stanley…
