Dolan blow for Invicta
Dolan blow for Invicta

Unlucky Invicta midfielder Ronnie Dolan fractured an ankle just under an hour into Saturday’s 2-0 FA Trophy defeat at Woking leaving Folkestone without arguably their player of the season so far as they face league games at Whitehawk (tomorrow) and at home to Merstham this coming weekend.

“Ronnie’s been playing so well so obviously it’s a big blow” said manager Neil Cugley.

“It’s not the actually that he hurt a while back but he’s obviously out for a while.”

Striker Johan Ter Her Horst (knee) sees a specialist tomorrow and midfielder Sam Hasler (stomach problems) is also due to speak to his consultant later in the week with all three doubtful for the busy holiday period that gets closer by the game.

“Thankfully we’ve got a squad big enough to cope and once we can look at the bigger picture we’ll see if we can bring someone else in if we need them” said Neil.

“But they are three very good players and we’ll miss them.”

Looking back on Saturday’s game Cugs said: “Apart from Ade (Yusuff) we didn’t cause them enough problems up front. Kieron (McCann) and Alfie (Paxman) are good lads but we never took them game to them as much as we needed to. We need both of them to get nearer to goal than they do and that’s something we’ll have to look at.

“Their lad from Forest (Toby Edser) who scored the first goal was outstanding, as was the other one in midfield that they’ve brought in from Oxford, but defensively we played well and we can some positives out of the game.

“The keeper made an excellent save from Kieron very early on. If that he gone it they’d have been chasing the game and it could have been a very different story but that’s football for you.”

*In the quarter-finals of the Velocity Trophy Invicta must play the winners of the third round tie between Bracknell Town and Felixstowe.
