Dartford 1-1 Aldershot Town
Dartford 1-1 Aldershot Town

Dartford yet again failed to get the three points but at least they didn’t concede late & lose all the points, this was a game when both sides had their periods when they dominated the game.Dartford

The game was only 8 minutes old when Dartford could & maybe should have taken the lead when a Ryan Hayes free kick on half way into the area found Rory McAuley 6 yards out on his own but he headed over the bar.

Aldershot had their first half chance three minutes later when a corner into the Dartford area was half cleared to Mark Molesley but from 20 yards his hurried shot was sliced wide.

In the 20th minute McCollin went down with what appeared to be a head injury & when play eventually started Dartford lost their composure as in the 24th minute a ball forward into the area came to Josh Scott who from 15 yards poked it past Jason Brown.

Aldershot were now running the game & in the 30th minute Molesley on the right cut inside & his shot from 20 yards went wide, then 5 minutes later Chris Barker on the left went into the area & his low cross found Brett Williams but from 10 yards he shot over the bar.

In the 44th minute Tom Derry running from halfway saw his shot saved by Brown & then in the 2nd minute of added on time Williams received the ball in the area & he jinked wide before shooting but Brown again saved.

The second half saw Aldershot continue where they left off in the first half & in the 57th minute Williams on the right ran from halfway into the area before shooting but Brown was forced to push it away for a corner.

Tony Burman made two substitutions in the 56th minute with Peter Sweeney & Lee Noble coming on & they did make a difference.

In the 58th minute Dartford had a great chance to equalise when Hayes on the right crossed to the back post where Andy Pugh was & his header was pushed away by Phil Smith & cleared.

Another chance came in the 66th minute when Harry Crawford put Pugh through on goal but Smith rushed out & smothered the ball just before Pugh was about to shoot, the very next minute Dartford did equalise when Crawford on the left got to the by-line before his low cross was met by Pugh 3 yards out & he poked in.

Five minutes later it could have been another goal for Dartford as Hayes on the right crossed to the back post for Elliott Bradbrook but his header ended up on the top of the goal.

The game changed again when Aldershot got their second wind as in the 76th minute Kieron Forbes collected a clearance & from 25 yards saw his goal bound effort deflect just past the post.

In the 82nd minute Aldershot could & maybe should have taken the lead when a long ball forward found Williams alone in the area but he shot over the bar & in the 3rd minute of injury time Forbes going forward passed to Williams in the area & his shot across goal was superbly saved by Brown & the final whistle went, Tony Burman afterwards said he was not impressed with the first half display but encouraged by the second half & believed they were getting better.
