Dagenham & Redbridge 1-0 Bromley

Bromley fell to their second consecutive National League away game as they were defeated by a single first half goal against Dagenham & Redbridge at Victoria Road on Tuesday evening.

Neil Smith changed a winning side ahead of the game with Chris Bush returning from suspension and Frankie Raymond slotting into midfield, with Harry Forster in for Tom Purrington.

Dagenham started the game brighter with both teams looking to play direct football and on numerous occasions the goal keepers punted to the ball to each other.

The first chance took 15 minutes when Adams saw his shot deflect wide for a corner, but with The Daggers continuing to have the better of things their pressure eventually paid off.

Weston put in a dangerous cross from the right, which Rance flicked on to the far post for Gordon to head home past a static Bromley defence for 1-0.

The Ravens finally got going just after the half hour with a series of corners and long throws, Liam Trotter headed wide from a corner and Joe Kizzi saw a sliding effort to connect to Jack Bridge free kick at the far post go off target.

The Ravens were dealt a blow right on the half when Forster had to go off which what looked like a reoccurrence of his hamstring injury.

The second half started the same as the first with both sides going long and playing percentages. Bromley created a good chance early on when Courtney Duffus played in Michael Cheek just inside the box, but the club’s top scorer saw his effort well saved by Justham from a tight angle.

The game opened up from there with Adams forcing a save from Mark Cousins at one end while Bromley continued to press from set pieces at the other, but The Daggers keeper Justham and his defence coped well with the high balls onto the area.

On the hour mark Bromley changed to a 3-5-2 and almost immediately Duffus had a shot saved by Justham at his near post. With both sides battling hard and the play becoming stretched, Saunders went close for the home side from long range while Bridge had a free kick saved for The Ravens.

Daggers sub McQueen then had a shot saved by Cousins before Bromley pressed late on. Despite Bromley’s efforts, Daryl McMahon’s side worked tirelessly to hold on to their lead, with the only real late chance falling to Bush who saw his shot from distance blocked by Clark.

In the end The Ravens just didn’t do enough to earn a point and The Daggers were worthy winners on a poor night for Neil Smith’s men.

Bromley remain eleventh in the table and now have to pick themselves up for Saturday’s home game against Maidenhead Utd.
