Charlton Athletic v Rochdale preview
Charlton Athletic v Rochdale preview
Charlton get an early chance to get the MK Dons game out of their system, when Rochdale visit The Valley on Tuesday evening.

The Addicks played well for much of Saturday’s game, but they do need to sharpen up in front of goal.

Rochdale are in the lower reaches of the table, but are often stubborn opponents away from home.

Karl Robinson expects to have Patrick Bauer available again. The German missed Saturday’s game with a groin strain. With a tough trip to Scunthorpe coming up on Saturday, Robinson will have to decide whether to risk Bauer against Dale.

Ezri Konsa and Naby Sarr are decent defenders, but both look better with an experienced partner alongside them.

Robinson will be without Billy Clarke, Tariqe Fosu and possibly Ben Reeves as well.

Reeves was subjected to some rough treatment by the Dons’ defenders, and was substituted soon after being on the end of a particularly robust challenge.

The Addicks may look something like this:

Amos; Solly, Konsa, Sarr, Dasilva; Kashi, Forster-Caskey, Marshall, Holmes,‎ Ahearne-Grant: Magennis.

Subs: Phillips, Dijksteel, Bauer, Jackson, Aribo, Hackett-Fairchild, Dodoo.

The referee will be Surrey’s Charles Breakspear.

Keith Hill will set his team up to make life difficult for Charlton. With some big hitters missing, the Addicks may have to be patient. They will also need to be more clinical with their finishing.
