Charlton Athletic v AFC Wimbledon preview
Charlton have injury concerns about their two main strikers ahead of Saturday’s clash with AFC Wimbledon.

Both Karlan Grant and Lyle Taylor are struggling to be fit for the game. Grant had his hamstring scanned on Thursday. Though the injury is not thought to be too serious, he is unlikely to be available for Saturday.

Taylor has bruising and a lump on his foot, as a result of the challenge that saw Ben Thompson receive a red card on Tuesday. Taylor will want to face his old team if at all possible.

‎The other main concerns – Krystian Bielik and Mark Marshall – should be fit enough to play.

The Addicks are in good form, but Tuesday’s game was energy sapping. Wimbledon have had a clear week to prepare for the game and should be the fresher of the two teams, but they also have injury worries about their strike force.

They are not in good form, and are currently next to bottom in the table, six points from safety.

Here are Lee Bowyer’s thoughts on Saturday’s opponents:

“There is a long way to go and I wouldn’t say they are fighting for survival because we aren’t even half-way through the season.

” I’m sure they aren’t where they want to be but they have got a new manager, which will open the door for players who may have not been in the team before.

“I know the new manager will get them motivated. I watched their game against Rochdale on Saturday and they were all committed and it is going to be tough and physical.

“We have to do what we do and we will respect them like we do every team we play. We’re at home and I’m expecting our fans to be singing like they always do to get us going.

“My job is to make sure that we are physically ready for the game.”

‎The Dons’ indifferent form cost long serving manager, Neal Ardley, his job. Former Crazy Gang member, Wally Downes, is now the man at the helm.

Charlton may look something like this:

Steer; Solly, Bauer, Pearce, Sarr; Bielik, Lapslie, Aribo, Fosu; Taylor, Ajose.

Subs: Phillips, Dijksteel, Morgan, Stevenson, Reeves, Marshall, Hackett-Fairchild.

Rutland’s Trevor Kettle will be the man in the middle.

Despite his lengthening injury list, Bowyer will expect to take all three points from this game.
