Charlton Athletic 1-1 Bury
Charlton Athletic 1-1 Bury

It was another frustrating‎ afternoon at The Valley, as Charlton had to settle for their first draw of the season.

Jermaine Beckford gave Bury an early lead, but Josh Magennis levelled things up six minutes before the interval.
Karl Robinson had to make one enforced change, with Karlan Ahearne-Grant coming in for the suspended Ricky Holmes.
It took the Addicks 25 minutes or so to get going, but what followed was more than an hour of almost total Charlton domination.
A fantastic cross field ball by Josh Laurent after nine minutes found Beckford at the corner of the penalty area.
Beckford rolled back the years, and curled the ball into the far corner of Ben Amos’ goal.
The Addicks got a foothold in the game and Ahearne-Grant and Magennis had chances.
Ahearne-Grant should have done better with a lob that cleared Joe Murphy’s bar, and Magennis spun and hit a fierce shot that was well held by the keeper.
Magennis brought the hosts level when he headed home a delicious Jake Forsrter-Caskey cross after 39 minutes.
Charlton were on the front foot for most of the second half, but could not make the decisive breakthrough‎.
An error by Murphy just past the hour mark nearly let Magennis in, but the Shakers esccaped.

Tariqe Fosu, Patrick Bauer, Billy Clarke and Magennis all had chances, but could not find the back of the net.
And Murphy had to make a wonder save to foil Forster-Caskey.
Substitute, Neil Danns, went closest for Bury but Amos tipped his shot over for a corner.
Jason Pearce left the stadium on crutches, and with his knee in a brace. The combative central defender now looks set for a spell on the sidelines.
Robinson’s team had 19 shots, 8 of them on target, so the manager will be disappointed with not too have won.
Next up is a trip to Walsallon Tuesday, followed by a game at Fleetwood on Saturday, and Holmes will be available for both games.
