Michael Morrison is set to join Birmingham on loan according to a Tweet from Sky’s Pete O’Rourke on Thursday evening.

Having been a regular during his first three seasons at The Valley, Morrison has fallen down the pecking order this campaign, with Tal Ben Haim and Andre Bikey being Bob Peeters’ preferred pairing.

Morrison has started just one league game this season, when Ben Haim missed the Birmingham match due to religious reasons.

Young Joe Gomez is back in training but not yet fit enough to be considered for the first team. Terrell Thomas will be the immediate back up in central defence but it is likely that the Addicks have someone lined up to come in.

Sheffield Wednesday are next up for Charlton, when they visit The Valley on Saturday.

The Owls have recently recruited Gary Taylor-Fletcher to boost their firepower and have won three, drawn three and lost just one of their seven league games – against Cardiff – on the road.

Peeters will hope to have a stronger squad to pick from than he did at Fulham but Frederic Bulot’s hamstring will rule him out.

Stephen Henderson should have the first choice back four in front of him, with Rhoys Wiggins set to return after recovering from a toe injury.

Johann Gudmundsson came on at Fulham and Peeters may again choose to introduce the Icelander from the bench. Yoni Buyens is available after serving his one match ban at Fulham for collecting five yellow cards.

He is likely to slot into a central role, resuming his partnership alongside Johnnie Jackson, with Jordan Cousins reverting to the left.

Igor Vetokele is another player back in training but Peeters is cautious about rushing players back from injury too soon, so the Angolan may also have to settle for a spot on the bench. Charlton could line-up like this:

Henderson; Solly, Ben Haim, Bikey, Wiggins; Wilson, Buyens, Jackson, Cousins; Moussa, Tucudean.

Subs:Pope, Fox, Thomas, Gudmundsson, Harriott, Aheane-Grant, Vetokele.

Billericay’s Andy D’Urso will be the man in charge.

Peeters will be expecting his side to take all three points from this game.
