Canterbury Rugby Club has been shortlisted in an unprecedented five out of seven categories for the national RFU 2015 President’s Award.

All rugby clubs in England were invited to submit a bid where the overarching theme is to recognise and reward teams of outstanding volunteers.

This follows Canterbury’s success last year in the Club Management and Community Engagement categories.

Representatives from the club will attend an Awards ceremony at Twickenham on Sunday 31st May 2015
Canterbury are short listed for:

Player Recruitment: The team of volunteers receiving this award will have worked creatively to recruit new players from different backgrounds.

People Power: This will be an exceptional group of volunteers using innovative ways to recruit, retain and recognise coaches, referees and volunteers

Club Management: The winners of this award will be a volunteer team using effective and efficient club management and development, modernising the running of their club

Community Engagement: The winning team will have forged links with schools, colleges, universities, businesses, community groups and people that traditionally have had little contact with the game.

President’s Category – “Beyond Rugby” This award will go to the person or people who have used the game as a vehicle for social change. The winner or winners will have used rugby to transform lives or communities.
