Last timeout at Brands Hatch, Byrne didn’t have the best of weekends coming off his PBM Kawasaki at highspeed in race one. Race two showed his determination as he picked himself up and rode his rebuilt machine to second place behind Josh Brookes.

This weekend as he and the team head to the high-speed Hampshire circuit, Shakey is targeting top spot on the rostrum once again.

There are just seven races left before the season ending showdown and Shane is keen to secure his place in the showpiece that ends the season.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s racing, he said: “I think the results at Brands Hatch have spurred us on even more ahead of Thruxton. I’ve spent plenty of hours cycling up mountains in Spain in 35 degrees as when you don’t win it certainly fires you up to get back to winning again.Shane Byrne - Snetterton 2 - PSP Images

“I am not saying that training will make wins come, but I know when myself and my team give 110% every box is ticked and the rest is down to Lady Luck. It’s especially frustrating having a bad weekend when its people close to you in the standings that have a good weekend. The great thing about the PBM Kawasaki team is that we have already been working on a plan for Thruxton since the last round to prepare for the next races.

“Thruxton wasn’t fantastic for us last year, but it was in 2013, so we need a repeat performance of the latter really as last year I was beaten twice and that is doubly bad, but that makes me want to come back stronger this weekend. I love the place as it is super-fast and so much fun to ride, so it would be great to come away from Thruxton off the back of wins again as I don’t like finishing second.”
