Burgess Hill Town v Ramsgate preview

The Rams go into this Ryman League Division One South fixture in the bottom three, unfortunately no April Fool for Rams fans, and face a resurgent Burgess Hill Town side who sit top of the tree – The Rams facing a side who, on the first day in April, have only one league defeat registered against them this season and have amassed a remarkable 99pts.

Ramsgate

The game has the added significance whereby a win for The Rams will see them climb out of the relegation zone whilst a home win for Burgess Hill will see them go 15pts clear of nearest rivals Faversham Town with only five game and 15pts to play for – The league leaders have the superior goal difference and are all but guaranteed the title barring an unprecedented run of results.

The Rams go into the game with two wins and four losses from their last six games with their away form providing particularly disappointing reading in losing their last three on the road – All by a 2-1 margin.

However Burgess Hill’s solitary league defeat came only two weeks to the day of this match-up, losing 1-0 at home to Whyteleafe, which may give The Rams a glimmer of hope as their hosts go into this game with back-to-back away draws on their record.

The Rams should feel well rested for this midweek clash after their weekend game at home to Guernsey was postponed in unusual circumstances – Their opponents were unable to travel due to fog in the English Channel meaning their plane could not ferry them to the mainland.

The reverse fixture between the sides earlier this season took place in early December but there was no early Christmas present for The Rams as Burgess Hill came away 2-1 winners – Warren Schultz scoring for the home side early in the second half after a first half double by Dan Perry.

So can The Rams pull a rabbit out of the hat on April Fools Day and dampen the party or will it be the league leaders taking the spoils and edging towards a seemingly inevitable promotion?
