Former Gillingham goalkeeper Jason Brown is on the lookout for a new challenge as he has decided to leave Sutton United.Jason Brown4

The 31 year old Welsh international has been a regular for the Skrill South side in recent months after a short spell with Cambridge United came to an end.

With the current season coming to an end, Brown has decided to start looking for his next club now and wants to thank everyone at Sutton United for the opportunity he has had there:

“I have loved every minute working with the staff and the players. They’re a special group and I hope that every single one of them achieve success.”

“I’ve loved playing on a regular basis and I feel that I am getting back to the form I had at Gillingham.”

“I’ve enjoyed playing and getting the experience of playing in the Conference South and would play in that league again, but it would have to be at the right club who have ambition to go through the leagues.”

“If I be honest the standard is a lot better than I thought it would be and I think you only have to look at the league to see how tight it is.”

Despite announcing he will be leaving the club at the end of the season, Brown is still focused on the job in hand and wants to finish the season off, whilst telling KSN he wants to carry on playing for a number of years yet:

“I still have a job to do at Sutton in terms of helping them to get promoted and if this can be achieved it would be fantastic and that’s what I am 100% focused on at present, while hopefully I can catch one or two eyes while doing that.”

“I feel that I’m still young enough to be able to play for another 5-6 years easily.”

Brown made a real name for himself whilst playing for Gillingham between 2001 and 2006, going on to sign for Premier League side Blackburn Rovers.

After limited chances there, Brown went on to have spells with Leeds United, Leyton Orient and Cardiff City on loan before joining Aberdeen in 2011.

Now back living in Bromley, the Welsh international keeper is set to attract a lot of interest in the coming weeks with Kent clubs believed to be heading the queue for his services.
