Bromley v Salford City preview

Bromley return to National League action at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon when they entertain high profile opponents in newly promoted Salford City.

Salford backed by the Class of ’92 have risen from the Northern Premier League to Non League’s top flight in four years and after a difficult start to this campaign have now found their feet at this level under manager Graham Alexander.

City are unbeaten in seven games winning five of them and now sit in sixth place with 18 points from ten games. Last Saturday they won 1-0 at home to Maidstone Utd thanks to an own goal from former Bromley striker Shamir Mullings, watched by over 2,000 people.

Bromley are currently sixteenth, with ten points from as many games, Manager Neil Smith was critical of his sides defending after their 3-2 loss at Aldershot on Saturday, losing to a late goal after leading 2-1 at half time. Smith will be happy that captain and defender Jack Holland should be back from injury along with striker Omar Bugeil who was on International duty with Lebanon, scoring his first goal for his country last week.

With Adam Mekki and Kyle Da Silva also returning from long injury lay offs The Ravens now have a healthier looking squad, but they did lose Roger Johnson to injury in the first half at Aldershot.

Given that Bromley mostly signed players from the level below in the summer, while Salford brought in players like Adam Rooney from SPL runners up Aberdeen, the gulf in budgets is clear, but Bromley will be keen to find their form again.

The Ravens have lost only two home games in 2018 and after two disappointing league defeats saw them slip to only a couple of points away from the bottom four a positive result would lift the spirits and ease the worries of the fans.
