Bromley 3-1 Welling United

Bromley and Welling played out an entertaining, competitive friendly at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night with the the Ravens coming out on top in the second half.

With so many familiar faces to home fans in the Welling squad and in the management team of Mark Goldberg & Hugo Langton, it felt like a reunion of the promotion team of 2014/15 and it was one of nine Ex-Ravens in the squad who made the early breakthrough when Anthony Cook lobbed Mark Cousins from out wide, the ball dropping just inside the far post.

The Wings should have gone further ahead soon after when Rob Swaine headed the ball down to Adam Coombes who somehow missed his chance from close range. Coombes went close again soon after when his low drive was saved by Cousins, before Bromley finally had a decent spell of pressure which eventually led to The Ravens being awarded a penalty for a push on Michael Cheek.

Frankie Raymond stepped up to take the spot kick and coolly slotted the ball home past Dan Wilks for 1-1. Jordan Higgs had an effort saved by Wilks soon after, but Bromley struggled to create any real chances with Welling right back Sanchez Ming having an excellent first half containing the attacking threat of Reeco Fairchild- Hackett down the left.

The second half saw Bromley have the better of things, Jack Holland headed a Raymond corner just wide, before Raymond provided another good ball this time for Joe Kizzi who headed home unmarked at the far post.

Cheek dispossessed Joe Anderson and combined well with Korey Henry who fired over, before several changes broke the play up for a while.

The Ravens eventually made it 3-1 on 71 minutes when Trialist No.27 scored a superb curling effort from 20 yards out, which just dipped inside the far post.

The Wings should have pulled a goal back late on when Aaron Cosgrove hit the post after a good run and Julien Anau blasted the rebound over the bar from close range. Late on Ravens Academy player Luke Tanner broke into the box, but fired just wide.

This was a good workout for both sides, played in a good spirit, with Welling impressing in the first period and Bromley looking stronger in the second. The Ravens now travel to Maidstone Utd on Saturday with The Wings entertaining Charlton Athletic.
