Bromley 1-1 Guiseley
Bromley 1-1 Guiseley

Bromley’s last game on grass at Hayes Lane was an entertaining hard fought draw with relegation threatened Guiseley, who will go into the last game of the season still needing points to survive.

Guiseley started on top with a series of corners, but it was Bromley who took the lead on their first attack when Brad Goldberg showed some great control in the area before curling the ball in the far post from a tight angle after only three minutes.

Playing with four forwards, The Ravens had a strong spell from the goal, but the visitors battled back with Derek Asamoah forcing a save from Ross Flitney after a scramble in the box.

Bromley then created some good chances with George Porter hitting the post and Tobi Sho-Silva powering a shot inches wide of the goal.

The two sides traded attempts on goal from there going into the half, Porter shooting over for Bromley while Asamoah and Kevin Hurst were denied by Flitney at the other end.

Guiseley made two changes at half time and came out looking to get back into things immediately, drawing level on fourty nine minutes when sub Jordan Preston showed a cool head cutting into the box and sliding the ball past Flitney from eight yards out.

Bromley nearly went back in front soon after when Sho-Silva beat Jonathan Maxted to a high ball and lobbed the keeper, but as the two collided, the ball bounced back off the post and was cleared to safety, leaving both players requiring treatment.

The Lions had another strong spell around the hour, Michael Rankine was denied by a brave block from Jordan Higgs and Hurst had a volley from a corner saved by Flitney just under the bar.

Late on with the visitors looking nervous, Bromley had one final push at winning the game. Blair Turgott saw a drive from distance tipped wide by Maxted and the keeper also saved from Louis Dennis after a good run and Alan Dunne’s powerful effort.

Goldberg fired wide, Lee Minshull headed a corner over and Goldberg headed a Dennis cross wide, but Guiseley held out for a vital point in their quest for survival.

Bromley now travel to Gateshead next Saturday for their final game of the season sitting in tenth needing a win to better last season’s points tally.
