KSN are proud to support:

Bromley 1-0 St Albans City
Bromley 1-0 St Albans City

If the old adage about it being the sign of a good team, that they can win even when they play badly then this bodes well for the title hopes of Mark Goldberg’s side, as Bromley picked up a vital three points with a single goal victory over a rugged St Albans side in front of an impressive Hayes Lane crowd to set up an interesting festive period nicely for the BR2 based club.

Bromley started the game well with Louis Dennis firing over and Danny Waldren hitting the bar with an effort from out wide.

The Saints then battled their way back into things with James Comley forcing a save from Seb Brown after a spell of pressure.

For the home side Damien Scannel had a lobbed effort headed off the line by Ian Gayle, before the visitors had two late chances in the half when  John Frendo just failed to connect to a cross and Omar Beckles went close.

The second half saw Bromley started well again, but there was no end product to their possession, with a Rob Swaine’s header saved by former Raven Joe Welch the only effort of note.

Beckles was denied by Brown at the other end, but after the introduction of Moses Ademola and Jamie Slabber The Ravens posed a threat up front which eventually resulted in the winning goal.

Dennis played in Ademola with a great through ball and the sub coolly slotted the ball past Welch into the corner of the net for 1-0 on 77 minutes.

St Albans had a late spell of pressure and could have grabbed an injury time equaliser when Comley charged down Brown only for his deflected clearance to loop back over the keeper and rebounded to safety off the bar.

Bromley held out for the win to narrow the gap at the top behind Boreham Wood to three points with two games in hand.

The Ravens now travel to Concord Rangers on Boxing Day before hosting Wealdstone on 28th and then Corncord on New Year’s Day. These games could shape how the second half of the season goes for their promotion hopes.
