Bromley 0-2 Solihull Moors
Bromley 0-2 Solihull Moors

An injury hit Bromley were no match for third placed Solihull Moors at a sunny Hayes Lane on Good Friday afternoon in front of a good Bank Holiday crowd.

Solihull started the game on top, physically bigger and stronger than their hosts they used the assets well with long diagonal balls, aerial power and pace. The Moors took the lead on 15 minutes when Jamey Osbourne received the ball in space on the edge of the box and sent his low effort past David Gregory into the corner of the net.

Bromley did pose an attacking threat down the wings, but there was no final product when they got around the Solihull box in a half that got increasingly more broken up and scrappy. Tyrone Williams had a cross shot that Gregory did well to tip round the post, while at the other end The Ravens finally created a chance when Luke Coulson played in George Porter, but Ryan Boot saved bravely at the Bromley forward’s feet.

Late on the lively Adi Yussuf had an effort well saved by Gregory and then dragged another effort wide as he shot across goal.

The second half saw Solihull start well again, Yussuf had a fiercely struck drive saved by Gregory down to his right and Jamie Reckford fired narrowly wide after good link up play with Darren Carter.

The Ravens best chance fell to Brendon Sarpong-Wiredu, but after a strong run into the box, the Charlton loanee fired his effort just over the bar.

From there Tim Flowers’ side went straight up the other end and made it 2-0, Reckford’s cross from the left found Danny Wright unmarked in the box and he headed home from ten yards out. Porter had a shot tipped over by Boot and the Moors’ keeper was also on hand to deny Richard Brindley who hit a powerful dipping effort from distance.

Couslon had a shot saved by Boot soon after and Porter put the rebound wide, but from there the game slowed and Neil Smith’s side couldn’t find a way through as The Moors saw the game out and secured the three points that keeps them in third ahead of their huge game with Leyton Orient on Monday.

Bromley stay thirteenth in the National League and now head to Barnet on Easter Monday hoping to have some more players back from injury to compete in the final two games of the campaign.
