One of the biggest names in motorsport will be celebrated on the 21st of September when the Festival of Porsche will be held at Brands Hatch.Porsche5

A wide range of vehicles will be present at the event road-going performance cars to some of the most iconic racing cars of all time, a rich collection of the company’s heritage will be displayed on and off the track.

5 time Le Mons 24 hour winner Derek Bell MBE will star as a guest of honour and will lead the on- track demonstrations of special Porsche cars. Bell will drive Porsche 956-001, the car in which he and Jacky Ickx won the 1983 edition of Le Mans, he will also be available to meet fans in autograph sessions. Another winner of the world famous 24 hour race will also be present,  Richard Atwood, who drove iconic Porsche 917s alongside drivers such as Jo Siffert and Pedro Rodriguez.

Porsche4Other notable cars which will be involved in the event will be the Porsche 956 in which Stefan Bellof set the fastest ever lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife and the Canon-liveried Group C machine that current circuit owner Jonathan Palmer drove to victory in the 1984 Brands Hatch 1000km. The manufacturer’s most recent Le Mons success will be commemorated by the 911 GT-1 ’98 which claimed a one-two in the French race 16 years ago.

Porsche’s racing acheivements in the rest of the world will also be remembered by the fastest 962 ever built, in which Derek Bell won his last 24 Hours race in 1989 at Daytona International Speedway. An example of the famous underdog, the Porsche RS Spyder which won the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2008, and claimed Porsche’s last outright prototype win in the 2010 American Le Mans Series, will also be present.

The current generation of Porsches will also be represented, full-scale replica of the 919, Porsche’s first outright Le Mans challenger since the 911-GT1 ‘98, as driven by former Grand Prix driver Mark Webber will make an appearance.

The company’s recognisable road cars will also be out in force, with 74 911 Turbos from 1974 to the present day taking part in a special 40th anniversary track parade. Porsche’s current range will also be displayed, this will include the state- of –the- art 2014 918 Hybrid hypercar.

Perfectly maintained models will go head-to-head in Porsche Club GB’s National Concours competition, with the winners receiving their prizes from Derek Bell. Pristine cars from all over the country will be on display from throughout the history of Porsche from the latest 911s to front-engined models and the original 356.

There will also be an all- Porsche racing line up on the track’s challenging Indy circuit including a triple-header finale to the Porsche Club Championship and rounds of the Porsche Speed Championship and BRSCC Porsche Championship.

Off-track attractions including trade stands, question-and-answer sessions, a fun fair and live music will add extra entertainment.
