What’s in store for your football team this coming season? Lewis Martin takes a look.

Bromley v Gillingham Pre-season Friendly 21/07/2015.

Every season, like most of you, I predict how the forthcoming season is going to pan out.

Last season, I did shockingly, apart from the now rather predictable Premier League. Last year, I thought Wigan would gain promotion back to the Premier League, instead they will be heading to Priestfield for a league fixture against the Gills, in what I think will be an encouraging season for the Kent side.

Justin Edinburgh has made some good signings over the summer, with the likes of Ehmer and Garmston joining on permanent deals and I expect Priestfield to come something of a fortress this season with very few clubs coming away with points from Kent.

I do think that the play offs could just be a step too far for Edinburgh’s men this season however and I expect Chesterfield, Sheffield United and Millwall to be challenging for the top two. I expect Blackpool will struggle again with all their off field difficulties as well as League One’s perennial strugglers Crewe, Port Vale and new boys Southend.

In the Championship, I believe it will be similar to last season with up to 12 teams fighting for automatic promotion up to the last couple of months of the season.

I’d hope that my side, Charlton will be celebrating come the end of the season, but I think we will be ousted in the play offs and expect Derby, Middlesbrough and a resurgent Fulham side to be the ones who triumph.

Down at the other end of the table, I believe new boys Preston will struggle to score the goals to keep them in the Championship and will drop out of the division come May with 2 out of Leeds, Bolton, Rotherham and Huddersfield.

League Two really is a lottery but I’d expect Luton to finally make it back out of the basement division with Leyton Orient and Stevenage joining them.

I can see Accrington, Mansfield and York fighting to stay up in the division with only one of those sides surviving.

Their places in the Football League will be taken by Forest Green Rovers and Grimsby come May as they will do well in the National League.

At the bottom end of the National League, I can see seasons of struggle for all of the Kent sides, which unfortunately will see Welling United relegated back to Conference South.

I believe both Bromley and Dover Athletic will eventually find themselves safe and Welling United will be joined by Boreham Wood, Guisely and Barrow.

In the National league South, it will be a three way Kent battle for promotion to the National League with Dartford, Ebbsfleet United and Maidstone United battling for glory, with which I think Ebbsfleet United will go up as champions and Dartford through the play offs.

In the Ryman Leagues, I expect VCD Athletic to have a comfortable season and expect Faversham Town to finally get out of Ryman League South.

How do you think your team will go this season? Will you fight for promotion or do you think you’ll get relegated because your new signings are rubbish?

The excitement of the new football season is just around the corner and I can’t wait.
