Matthew Ellis brings us up-to-date today with the latest news on his racing campaign for the 2015 season.Matthew Ellis - Atom Cup 1

It’s funny how much can change so quickly; last time we spoke I was aiming to run in Britcar or GT cup and then almost instantly tested the Ariel Atom Cup car and then raced in the Atom Cup series the same month at Snetterton 300.

So come 2015 what has changed? Well the drive to be competing in motorsport definitely hasn’t; thus far I have been unfortunate with sponsors/partners and had a few late pull outs which has made planning the year ahead far harder.

However, I still feel very positive to be able to compete through out the year with success.

So for this year I hope to be racing the Ariel Atom Cup car once again, in both the short sprint race style and endurance races which are new for this year. The car really provides a ridiculous amount of performance for the money and is an absolute joy to get hold of and drive hard.

With the testing I have done I know podiums and wins would definitely be on the cards; which off course works wonders for raising my profile and that of potential sponsors!Matthew Ellis - Atom Cup

I have really got a great variety of bespoke options to offer potential sponsors with this car; its unique, its extreme looks are instantly recognisable for starters; however the two seat layout is great for corporate days, shows and any event; it can accommodate literally anyone of any shape or size and is a great selling point.

I have no package deals made up; I want everything to be bespoke to each sponsor whether it be one thousand pounds or twenty thousand, you say what you really want and for how much and we can both work on it happening! It’s all about both parties getting what they want from the deal to improve both our positions.

So apart from racing Atom’s? I am aiming to do select rounds in the Classic Time Attack series with my fathers Talbot Lotus Sunbeam, a car that has been hugely successful in its life time in hill climbing and sprints. This would be a great experience and would be hugely enjoyable.

I love the car and have achieved a 100% podium rate every time I have used it; of which I would love to take on into the time attack series.

Grass roots motorsport is something close to me; I am a long time member of the Sevenoaks and District Motor Club; this really has a wonderful collection of people and I feel it is really important these clubs continue to survive and provide a cheap means of competition of which without so many would have no access to actual motorsport competition.Matthew Ellis 3

It’s great to see the MSA and Go Motorsport pushing autosolo’s and the like forward.

So how long do I have until my first race of the year? In short not long enough, I was fortunate enough to have saved money and given a great chunk of money rounded up by friends to race at Snetterton; but that’s not going to be enough this time.

So if you fancy tasting the motorsport circus and seeing you name, your company, your brand on a race winning car please do get in contact soon, it’s never too late!

My contact details are below and if you mention you learnt of me via Kent Sport News I will ensure you receive that little bit more than usual as an extra incentive!

All the best
