Despite dominating the second half for long periods, the Addicks came away empty handed from Ewood Park.

A Danny Graham ‎header deep into stoppage time, together with a Leon Best own goal in the first half, saw Blackburn extend their impressive recent run.

The injured player Karl Robinson mentioned at his Thursday press conference was Ricky Holmes, who was ruled out with a quad problem.

Ben Reeves came in for Holmes, and played in the middle of the advanced midfield trio.

Jason Pearce came in for Naby Sarr in an otherwise unchanged team.

‎The Addicks acquitted themselves well, particularly in the second period, but lacked a real cutting edge.

Charlton’s two best chances came either side of the interval. First, Leon Best won the ball in the air, played Reeves in, but the midfielder shot straight at David Raya.

Then, just after the break, Reeves hit a shot that Raya parried at the foot of the post. Best followed up but was adjudged to be offside.

Worryingly, the Addicks picked up another injury. Just before the half-hour mark, Billy Clarke twisted his knee and had to be replaced by Best. Clarke is likely to be out for the entire festive period.

Rovers went ahead after 30 minutes, when Best deflected Charlie Mulgrew’s free-kick into his own net.

They sealed victory right at the death, Danny Graham stooping to head home Joe Nuttall’s cross.

Robinson was upbeat about his team’s performance, but the lack of a real goal threat is costing them dear.

The manager is hoping to bring more firepower in early next month.
