Big season opener for Addicks
Big season opener for Addicks

Charlton fans face the long trek to Sunderland for the 2018/19 season opener on 4 August. To make things worse for the travelling faithful, the game will kick-off at 12.30pm as it is being shown live on Sky.

The first home game will be a week later when Shrewsbury visit The Valley.‎ The Addicks will also face a trip to newly promoted Accrington on 18 and will entertain Peterborough on Tuesday 21 and Fleetwood on Saturday 25 August.

Lee Bowyer’s side will host local rivals, Gillingham on the Saturday before Christmas. They travel to Coventry on Boxing Day and Barnsley three days later. Charlton complete their holiday fixtures with a game against Walsall at The Valley on New Year’s Day.

Regular travellers always have one eye on the midweek away games. The Addicks will have to travel to Scunthorpe on 2 October and Burton on 27 November. Though postponements or cup commitments can always add games to the midweek schedule.

The other extreme trip on Charlton’s schedule – to Home Park to face Plymouth – will take place on 6 April.

They finish the season with a match against Rochdale at The Valley on 4 May. The final away game of the season will be at Gillingham a week earlier.
