As the DTM reaches the halfway mark of the 2018 season, the next race on the calendar is Gary Paffett’s favourite – Circuit Zandvoort.

The 4.307-kilometre circuit provides high-speed sections on the one hand and a lot of slow, tight corners on the other. The Dutch racetrack is special in many respects as the DTM drivers race in the dunes from bay to bay on Holland’s coast.

Gary is currently the most successful of the current crop of drivers in the DTM line-up at Zandvoort and heads the 2018 Driver’s Standings after taking victory on two occasions and reaching the podium twice more – with a 99 points total and leading Timo Glock by 6 points.

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport have secured six wins at the circuit in the dunes since 2001 and lead the 2018 constructors’ and team classifications in the run-up to Zandvoort, the halfway point in the 2018 DTM season.

In a confident mood and excited to race in the Zandvoort dunes, Gary Paffett hopes to secure a win or two in this weekend’s races.

“Zandvoort is probably my favourite DTM circuit. It’s a great venue. Extremely challenging, but good fun to drive, for sure! Our car has worked really well so far this year, and we now have a small lead in the championship. Hopefully, we can go to Zandvoort and extend that lead, but the most important thing will be to achieve decent results. I’d obviously love to go there and get a win or two and finish on the podium, as I just love this track.”
